A few days ago I put out a call for new carrier names to include in the next version of Revolution when it is released.

The 2024-02 version of Revolution assigns each carrier a unique ship name. Each map you play will see each team’s fleet drawing their carrier names from a different group of names.

Our marvellous community submitted over 30 unique ship names! I’m pleased to say that they were all pretty good, and most were not names I’d already included, so here they are!

Teams

I’ve decided to group the names so that related names will be assigned to one of the teams. Note, I’ve had to shorten some names to fit the game.

Pacific Fleet

The three carriers from the Battle of Midway, Dauntless was also a type of carrier aircraft used in the battle. And finally “Ike” was inspired by the submission of “Walk Softly and carry a big stick”.

Courage

These names are really very cool, inspiring and just darn awesome! The thread of bravery and tenacity runs through them all!

• Thunderchild – Probably my favourite so far!

Terrors

Names for mythical and real beasts of the deep!

• Draconis
• Rex
• Lupis
• Scylla
• Charybdis
• Barracuda

Royal Navy

There were a good chunk of these names from several people, not a real shocker given the game and community.

• Illustrious
• Ark Royal
• Hermes
• Invincible

These will go along side the other RN, RNZN, RAN and RCN names added.

Oddballs

These somehow are unrelated to most of the others and related to each other while being totally different 😀
