Evolution in EM signal analysis as a result of the EW project has brought software advancements to the RWR system fitted to aircraft. Aircraft are now able know the bearing and approximate type of all RADAR emission sources rather than a simple 4-direction indication.

With advances in signal processing, aircraft now come standard with a Mk1 Radar Warning Receiver.
The RWR is able to sense RADAR emissions from four rough directions and able to tell if the source is a surface or AWACS RADAR

The direction and type of the nearest detected RADAR source is displayed on the right side of the HUD for all aircraft.
