"What should it do?"

All along since starting to think about a new “cargo” type I’ve had the nagging feeling that making unit production more complex, slower or harder won’t be that well received (or more fun).

So I started thinking, what could some new resource/cargo/item be used to do, or be traded/spent to unlock.

As I’ve probably posted before, the lua modding allows us to do things like:

  • show/hide units on the map and HUD
  • show/hide info about islands on the map and HUD
  • prevent players ordering production items
  • cancel/alter production on islands
  • allow/prevent different weapons to be installed on each unit
  • etc

I’ve done some degree of all of the above, but not a lot springs to mind about something you can buy, or pay upkeep for.

I will think some more..
