Revolution 1.6 Evolving

Work is well underway on 1.6. I’ve created a number of new mini features as well as tidied up code and models.

I posted previously that I had removed the carrier takeoff ramp. A few people were worried that this would lose the slight launch boost in heavy seas. Fear not! Only the visuals have been removed, aircraft still get the slight bump up on launch.

This gives you a slightly clearer view and makes it a little easier if you were to want to airlift units onto the deck, or if some more weapons were fitted to the front of the ship (I’ll say no more yet)

As for these mini features.

  • Barges have names!
    • Barges are commonplace and are all part of the wider corporate fleet, groups of barges have names like “Global Transfer 17” or “Sea Trucker 9” visible on control screens and maps
  • Virus Bots have names!
    • The hackers behind the Robot Dog cyber weapons have named thier creations. You can now cheer “Zero Cool” or “Cereal Killer” as they slowly hack the planet!
  • PvP spectators
    • When a team is knocked out of a multi team PvP game, they can now follow some of the action on the Drydock bar big screen.

Other things on my list that I’ve decided on are:

  • Support HD screens in the included TACOPS bridge
  • Combat droids should have names too
  • Carrier officers mess should have a TV
