1.2.5 Bugfixes and Balance Pass

v1.2.5 (2024-04-25) brings in a few bugfixes:

  • Helm station screens now always show hostile aircraft correctly
  • The combat droid can no longer be deployed by the carrier (this was an unfinished change)

Balance Changes

RCS and stealth modelling were technically working, but gameplay-wise they were a lot of confusing aspects, not least that the holomap and control stations displays will disagree when stealth came into play (because we can’t selectively turn off 3d rendering of specific units on the 3d holomap table).

In real-world, any AWACS of any kind will be able to see even the best stealth aircraft on scope long before they get into the CC2 Radar ranges. Yes, the F-35 might have the RCS of a sparrow, but an E-2 can still see it much more than 20km away. CC2 Radars are all within the 9-15km range band.

If you want to fly a bare manta with a single gun, or single missile you will gain an advantage in detection range, but not an overwhelming one. You will still appear on the holomap and HUD, but the disparity in the situational picture for the opposing force wont be so large between the operator and holomap screens.
